This is a TWO-PART workshop.

PART ONE is on 10/5 from 5 - 7 p.m. It is online. There is no limit to the number of teachers who can participate in this part of the workshop. This is open to everyone.

PART TWO  is on 10/6 from 6:45 - 11 p.m. It is at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts and features a performance of the Broadway musical Hamilton: An American Musical. This is only open to K12 teachers. Any teacher who attends this must agree to review and provide substantial feedback on a lesson from the curriculum. Ideally, you'll try the lesson out in your classroom but this is not required.

  • This part of the workshop is limited to only NINE (9) teachers at this time.
  • It is our hope to expand the number of teachers who are able to attend to TWENTY (20).
  • To be able to attend this, you must ALSO attend Part One of the workshop.
  • Once all 9 spots have been claimed, you may register for the WAITLIST. If you're on the waitlist, you will be notified in the order that you registered when a seat in Part Two becomes available.

Workshop Information:  In this two-part workshop, we discuss the early American banking and monetary system from the perspective of three highly influential Founders – Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin. We share materials (including three 6-minute animated videos) and standards-based lessons with teachers that they can use in their classes. In the lessons, students analyze primary and secondary source – and they learn basic lessons in economics and personal finance. The videos and lessons represent a year-long collaborate effort between economists, historians, and creative artists. All materials were developed through the Lighting the Way Grant from the Suntrust Foundation, now Truist Foundation and are available to teachers at no cost. In Part Two of the workshop, we'll see a performance of Hamilton: An American Musical.
